GEO Doctor

Geo Doctor TM

Geo DoctorTM is a software tool for processing, viewing, interpretation, analysis and publishing of GPR measurement data.

Geo DoctorTM also allows the user to attach different types of data to the project.

Geo DoctorTM runs on Microsoft’s Windows 98SE, Windows NT4.0, Windows NT2000, and Windows XP operating systems.

Clear Graphic User Interface for Managing Project Data

Data attachable to Geo Doctor™ projects include:

-

GPR data (in GSSI, MALA, Sensors & Software or any 8- or 16-bit data format

-

Reference data (e.g. drilling, seismic measurement, or resistivity logging results)

-

Digital video, maps, photographs and other images

-

Free format data, e.g. tables in user-defined format - Databases (e.g. MS Access, dbase, Paradox, MySQL tables..)

-

Any files, which can be opened with other programs in the workstation

Additional Value from Integrated Data Views

All data linked to the same Geo Doctor project survey line can be displayed simultaneously on screen. For example, a user can scroll seismic logging results, GPR profiles, and a map image of the survey line in one view, and at the same time interpret the GPR results or create an analysis database from the survey.

Data display settings can be modified in various ways, including:

-

User-definable colour tables

-

User-definable axes and view sizes

-

aUser-definable data display settings for each dataset

-

Possibility to switch between SI (metric) and Imperial (English) units in the display

Geo Doctor™ also enables:

-

Ability to display GPR profiles, which have been measured using a different scans/meter scale, on the same scale.

-

Possibility to overlay GPR data profiles and interpretations from different depth penetrations in the same frame (etc. a surface profile, from 1 GHz measurements, on top of a profile from 400 MHz measurements)

-

Displaying and interpreting GPR data with topography (if X,Y,Z coordinate information is available)

Created data views and view templates can be saved for later use.

Displaying project data and recording of interpreted points is based on using a common survey line for all the project data. The coordinates for the survey line can be given using GPS data, the (corrected) measurement scale from a GPR file, or manually (based on known distance points). With the program’s tools, the survey line can also be digitized onto a map image attached to the project.

GPR Data Processing Features

GPR data editing and processing features of Geo Doctor include:

-

Distance scale normalization and rescaling

-

GPR file reversal, cutting, joining, and channel splitting operations

Dialog for setting parameters for background removal operation.

-

All standard data processing features, operated through interactive graphic dialogs: background removal, setting of time zero level, signal gain, DC-level correction, filters, arithmetic operations

-

On-screen processing option enables user-defined processing settings for GPR data display on screen, without changing the source data

Well-Thought Out Interpretation and Analysis Tools

The interpretation and analysis features of Geo Doctor™ have been developed based on long experience of routinely using GPR in various infrastructure, environmental, and site investigations. Geo Doctor™ features:

-

Manual and semi-automatic layer tracing options

-

Pre-setting of layer codes, interface quality, and Er value for interpreted points

-

Point-and-click marking of point-like objects in the profile

-

Writing of observations and annotations

-

Velocity analysis using hyperbola fitting or reference points

A special version is available with the option of processing, interpreting and analysing air-coupled antenna data.

Interpretation files include coordinates, time, depth, layer code and interpretation quality code information for each interpreted point. The coordinates can be imported from raw GPS-measurements (NMEA), or any tabulated coordinate files.

Analysis bars can be used to classify profile sections within an analysis database, and then further to calculate the frequency of the different classes in the survey.

All the analysis and interpretation databases and project structures are compatible with corresponding Road Doctor™ files.

Effective Presentations and Wide Usability of the Results

All project data, GPR interpretations and analyses created with Geo Doctor™ can be published as:

-

Bitmap images of data views (supports jpg, png, pcx, bmp, tif, formats)

-

Printouts of data views, using any Windows-supported, colour or b/w printer

Interpretation and analysis data can also be exported to text files, which are easily transferred to a MS ACCESS database, to GIS programs, Surfer®, MS Excel, or statistical analysis programs (e.g. SPSS)
