Thermal Camera Surveys

Following thermodynamic principles, damaged road sections warm and cool at a different rate in comparison to undamaged road sections. One of the newest Roadscanners products is the Road Doctor™ Thermal Diagnostics method where a road, street or a bridge is studied with very high resolution thermal cameras, GPR and digital video cameras. Integrated analysis of these measurements improves quick mapping of distresses in the pavement. With a thermal camera, cracks, which are not yet visible on the road surface, can be spotted. In addition to pavement distress, thermal camera data indicates sections with frost damage and ice lenses. The thermal camera technique has also proven to be excellent in drainage surveys.
