Roadscanners’ Percometer – Adek
Percometer offers a reliable, precise, lightweight, and user-friendly instrument for gauging dielectric value, electrical conductivity, and temperature. The digital Percosensor is directly connected to a PC or tablet via USB using the Percoadapter. Perconnect software is available for Windows.
Manufactured by Adek Ltd in Estonia, the Percometer instruments are globally marketed and distributed by Roadscanners Oy.
Operating modes of Roadscanners Percometer
The PM measures also low frequency AC conductivity, which is the dominating component of imaginary part of relative permittivity (electrical losses) at frequencies below 100 MHz for most materials.
Roadscanners’ Adek Percometer provides the following measurement modes:
- Continuous measurements of dielectric constant and of electrical conductivity
- Single simultaneous measurement of dielectric constant and conductivity
- Automatic timed measurement of both dielectric constant and conductivity with predefined interval (Percostation mode).
- Statistical multipoint measurement of dielectrical and electrical conductivity values (average calculated, Tube Suction Test mode).
- High speed measurement of Er or j up to 700 samples/sec (method for investigation of impact of heavy transport loads on road structures).
- Field mapping of soil electrical parameters using GPS tablet and dielectric probe.
The user captures temperature alongside the measurement of the dielectric value (modes 1, 3, 4, 5).
The measured dielectric value is the real component of the complex relative dielectric permittivity. This can be derived from the shift in fringe capacity of the probe due to the material being tested. Percometer’s dielectric measurements are accurate as long as the material’s conductivity adheres to the following limits:
- < 1000 S/cm for tube probe measurements
- < 2000 S/cm for surface probe measurements
Fields of application
Adek Percometers have a wide scope of application: road material laboratories, geo-service units, road data service companies, agricultural development and even cross-country ski teams.
Roadscanners Percometer Probes – A Range of Options
Digital Percosensors (DPS) are available for direct connection to PC or tablet (with additional custom-designed probes).
The Digital Percosensors (DPS) communicate with PCs through ASCII text commands. This permits control and data retrieval using PC terminal programs, third-party loggers, or custom applications designed by users.
Standard probe types
- Surface probe (DSF) for measurements on the face of structures or material samples (probe’s length 170 mm, sensor diameter 60 mm)
- Tube probe (DTSV) for soil and aggregate sample measurements approx. 15 cm inside the material (probe’s length 150 mm or 1000 mm, diameter 28 mm)
Specially designed probe types
- Asphalt probe (DSFA) for measurements of the asphalt and concrete surfaces with less sensitivity to surface roughness (sensor diameter 120 mm)
- Concave surface probe (DSFC) for drill core (diameter 100 mm measurement from the side)
- Liquid probe (DLPV) for laboratory liquid measurement. (Er 1 to 150)
